NB7 RC1 is Out

Not had too much to write home about with netbeans since the demise of Sun.

I was disappointed with the NB7 beta releases which were pretty much unusable due to crashing. NB7 RC1 is much more stable and polished and does seem a whole lot more responsive.

Web improvements seem to have been put on the back burner apart from PHP,  HTML5 support and new versions of Glassfish.  What happened to JavaScript lib support in the Library Manager and Apache Geronimo support?

Database improvements are also minimal, would have thought SQLDeveloper would have been integrated by now, oh well.

I do like the improvements in responsiveness and the terminal is a useful edition.

Keep up the good work guys, great job.

netbeans 6.8 RC2

I have been using netbeans 6.8 RC2 for a couple of days for web development  doing my day job and it is looking good. (Java5 SE web, DWR and ExtJS)

Starts up much faster and is seems generally much more responsive all round.

The only problem encountered so far is that the editor windows do not maximize/restore which is already in the netbeans bug list, other than that I reckon it is ready to ship.
